About the Games
The festive program of the VIII Olympic Winter Games was prepared by Hollywood film producer Walt Disney.
Before the start of the VII Olympic Winter Games, unknown criminals attempted to steal the Olympic flame by attacking the car that was accompanying the torch relay. However, the main torch was not there, and the thieves only took several spare torches, as well as film footage that had captured the relay route.
During the slalom competition, the judges were unable to record a missed gate by one of the skiers. The officials contacted CBS-TV and asked them to show the recording. After that, the practice of video replays became standard.
